Gelati’s is a modern restaurant / Bar situated just as you come into Peritheia, opposite Dimitras Supermarket. Both the Restaurant and bar are run by Spiros and Lolla ably assisted by their young family when school doesn’t interfere. It is popular with the ex-patriot and Greek communities alike.
You will always receive a warm welcome from Spiros who,
it must be said, is probably one of the most welcoming restauranteurs that we have ever met. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Our daughter is vegetarian and he will happily ensure that a suitable meal is provided.
During summer, we would recommend the fresh fish which are always well grilled. There is an extensive menu covering all manner of grilled food and Greek specialities. We rate Lolla’s Kleftiko and ‘Lamb in the Oven’ as being the best that we have eaten on the island.
Caution should be exercised when ordering starters as Spiros always provides free dips and pitta bread along with free bottled water. The portions are certainly generous and we guarantee that you won’t leave hungry! The chances are that you may well also end up with a free dessert! (Not guaranteed though!)
The prices represent outstanding value and unlike some other establishments, the drinks prices are reasonable despite the fact that recent VAT rises are beginning to appear in some other establishments.
Spiros has invested heavily in fitting out the restaurant and in our opinion deserves every success. Ask to see the kitchens if you don’t believe us! He has even installed a commercial generator at the back of the premises to counter the power outages for which Greece is well known. He could probably keep half the village going!

Taverna Harry’s is a family run traditional taverna specialising in traditional Greek food. It is situated opposite the kafeneion as you come into Peritheia village. It has been supplying the culinary needs of the locals and visitors for well over twenty years.
Look out for the ‘Specials’ which like all the food there are cooked fresh. The taverna has a friendly atmosphere and is as good a place to visit for a drink as for a full Greek meal.
Service is always friendly and as you would expect in any Greek taverna, Harry will go out of his way to please his customers. We recommend that you ask what is special that day. You may just find things that don’t find their way onto the everyday menu.
